The Metropolis of Sydney, Australia, is where the Padisetti’s currently reside. They have been living there since the May of the year 2k, and loving every minute of it! The Padisetti family hails from India but spent several years in Auckland, NZ and they still have very heated arguments about which team to support in both Cricket and Rugby!

The Digital Armour Story
I would like to take you through some of the history behind this company, to give you a clearer picture of who we are and what we do.
Maria and I started our business, Digital Armour, in 2002. While in Auckland, NZ I used to do lecturing in Marketing. Like everywhere else in the world, teachers only made a fraction of what a legitimate business people were making, but as a lecturer, I found that I had more time at my disposal to work with. So I decided to set up a consulting firm just in my spare time – taking on many clients, sometimes even without charging the appropriate fees, if any.
It seemed to me that I had a lot of business knowledge I was not making use of and that I should consider other possibilities. Eventually, I moved on from my teaching position and went back to working in the private sector again. I was working for large companies and quickly became aware of the frustrating levels of Bureaucracy present in most businesses. Maria had a technical background and we used to wonder how an ideal business would allow us to more fully integrate our respective skill sets.
We realised that if we waited for an appropriate time to truly start our own business, the right time would probably never arrive. With my experience in working with small to medium sized businesses, I proposed that we focus on the area of SMB service and consulting. We eventually came up with the idea to provide IT Support for SMB’s.
We realized from our research that SMB’s face the same challenges that large corporations deal with. But SMB’s face these challenges without a stellar budget, governmental tax breaks, and incentives to fall back on. We knew that we would be able to make a difference for the SMBs that hired us. So, both of us quit our jobs and strictly devoted our time to Digital Armour.
We went from a 6 figure income to a below modest / zero income in just a few days! In hindsight, some might say, we were either too bold or possibly even stupid to have started a business at that time and in that particular way; with no contacts in this new country; very little savings and the economy being in recession. I respect the hardships families must endure, in order to wade through the tepid economic waters out there.

One product that we saw would make a big difference in productivity for Australian SMB’s was an open source IP telephony system. There were only few companies that were providing any support for this at the time. We liked this telephony software product a lot. The compelling nature this product convinced some of our existing IT customers to get it installed for them as well.

Through trial and error I learned about SEO and related subjects and immediately started getting leads and converting them into sales for the support services for this IP PABX.
Afterwards, I spent more time with gurus in the US and learned even more useful bits. A turning point came, when I figured out a way to reduce our own Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns and SEO costs by 50% while increasing the number of campaigns. The quality of the service we provide, coupled with the online promotions and our system for generating leads enabled us to become the leading support provider in the country for this service – IP PABX support.
